I see by the hunting forum at South Dakota Hunting that the geese and pheasant hunters are doing quite well this fall. I discovered something today while reading that hunting forum that SD has swan licenses, Now there’s something I’ve never hunted.

Every now and then I check out this site too as it’s related to the hunting forum but it’s not a forum, just a nice little hunting site woth some good articles on hunting. You can see it here at Hunting. Of course being a native of SW Minnesota I’m very familiar with Eastern SD hunting and fishing. Because the area I’m talking about is on one of the major snow and blue geese flyways goose hunting is always good.

The guys did say a litle ice is forming here and there but all of the larger lakes are still open and it seems, from reading the fishing forum, the big walleyes are biting quite well after dark. If you’ve ever wanted to go on a hunting fishing vacation next year you might want to consider going to South Dakota in the fall. You just can’t pick a better time for fish and game in SD.

If you are a newbie to ice fishing you might want to check out this site on fishing. It does have a section on ice fishing basics and a few tips and tricks if you are going ice fishing.

I see they had snow in SD the other day and that made me think of all the times I used to go fishing in the winter. The anticipation of the ice freezing was almost painful as it seemed to take forever for the ice to get thick enough to walk out on.

Of course like all water in the north the lakes eventually do freeze and the ice gets thick enough to put out an ice house and to drive on the ice. No big deal as it can be anywhere from 1 foot to 3 feet thick in SD and Southern MN where I fished. Even thicker if you go further north.

There are 4 or 5 pages there on ice fishing and newbie or old timer you’ll probably learn something. I know I did when I visited the site. The information was pretty good or I wouldn’t be recommending it to you.

Ice fishing is a fun family sport and it can be really cheap or you can go whole hog and it can be really expensive. For sure you don’t need all of the fishing equipment you need in the summer time. Ice rfishing can be great fun or if you find a quiet spot, just a good time to think about life and relax. Of course, hopefully the fish are biting and you don’t have that much time to sit around.

Ice fishing is challenging and if you haven’t tried it I recommend you try it at least twice.

Reality just keeps getting more unrealistic doesn’t it. What was reality yesterday is not reality today. What was science fiction 30 years ago is now reality today. Funny isn’t it how much things change and we don’t even realize it.

The Dick Tracy writst radio is now more than reality. Cell phones are real. Satellites were once considered an impossibility and now we can’t live without them. We went from one case of unreality to another case of unreality yet both cases are totally real.

Somedays it really gets confusing trying to figure out what’s real and what isn’t. Now, even things you can see don’t mean they are real. You can’t trust your eyes nor your ears anymore. This is going to sound a bit funny but TV isn’t even real anymore.

Say what? TV isn’t real? Lol, no, not that reality, the reality that all the backgrounds and charachtors were real people and real backgrounds. Now you can use a green screen and just have live actors that never leave the studio. Sanctuary on the SCiFi channel is not real at all, except for the actors. The rest is just played out on a green screen.

Are you falling into a major depression over the economy and everything else that’s happening. With the continuing bad news every day I’d flat out reccommend you quit watching he news. It doesn’t have a lot of affect on most of us anyway. Watching to much can lead to a major depression.

The stress just from watching the news can be enough to push you from stress to depression. If you want to know if you are depressed or in a major depression you might want to read this article about major depresion.

I know I don’t really understand he stupidity that lead to our economic problems excpet for one little thing. GREED. It’s depressing that the bankes and insurance companies greed has lead us to this point. How the hell the financial people thought they could make $500,000.00 dollar loans on house to peole making just a bit more than minimum waage is beyond me.

Yes, owning a house is the American dream but keeping it is part of that dream. Loaning money to people you know aren’t going to be able to pay it back is stupidity at it’s finiest. Of course if you can sell that bad loan as part of a package of bad loans you don’t care. You made 3% on it in a few weeks and it’s no longer your problem.
