Advantages of Single Dating

I have met and conversed with many people of different walks of life. However I noticed that majority of the people I met are currently single and are yet hesitant to enter into a romantic relationship, more so over marriage. With this intriguing discovery, I decided to ask them what made them to choose singleness and what makes them happy despite their status. Gladly, they shared all the information with me and right now, I am sharing it with you in this article so as to fuel your fiery curiosity.

They say that being single gives them the feeling of independence. They reasoned out that if you are in a relationship, you are bound to feel accountable to your partner for your actions. Because of the term “boyfriend/ girlfriend” that are tagged to each of you, you are compelled to tell your partner your whereabouts, the time when you will be going home or even the reason why you were out late at night at the bar and hanging out with friends. It is like a “parent-child” scenario that is happening within a relationship where one has to ask permission to his or her partner before having fun. Simply put, if you’re single, you can do anything you want, anywhere and anytime without having the feeling of remorse.

When you are single, you have the power to decide when to date or not. Of course, being in a relationship consumes much of your time. Example, your partner picks you up after your work and it always ends up dating until evening and dining together. Another common scenario is that your time is already managed for your work, family and a little for yourself, however your partner complains telling you that you both should have quality time together making that little time for yourself become little time for your boyfriend or girlfriend. In short, your time is divided into work, family, and him or her. Now, where will you place the time for yourself and your friends? Although allotting time for your partner is essential for the growth of your relationship, sometimes people forget to also allot time to enjoy life and pamper themselves. Another point given is that “boyfriends or girlfriends” come and go especially when relationships end, but friends are there for life through good times and bad times. So being single gives you the opportunity to cultivate your time into meaningful and lasting friendship.

Lastly, they say that being single gives you the opportunity to collect and collect and then select. That means to say that you have the advantage of dating and get to know a variety of people. You can even hang out with people you never considered as possible partner, yet when being with them you have learned a lot of things. Example, you haven’t experienced mountain climbing but because you met someone who loves to go hiking and climbing, you may able to discover the beauty of mountain nature and appreciate its existence. Single dating provides you a new venue for activities and broadens your horizons leading to personal growth and potential partners.

I appreciate them for sharing such ideas, however their ideas does not imply that being single is better than being in a relationship. They highly emphasized that whatever status you are in, it has its own pros and cons. What they have shared are high appreciations of the goodness of life they experienced and would like to empower those singles that are worrying because they do not have a boyfriend or girlfriend yet. Most especially they want to impart that whatever status you are in, enjoy life to its fullest!
