Schools, teenagers and birth control

I imagine you’ve heard about the alarming amount of teen pregnancies in the town of Gloucester, MA. The Gloucester High School teens made a pact about getting pregnant and 17 of them managed to.

The school nurse and the school Doctor both resigned in a protest over their not being able to give the teens contraceptives and let them remain anonymous.

Now what the hell is the matter with their parents and the parents of all high school teens. Sheesh, have they forgotten what they did and the stupid risks they took with sex. Are the parents of school children dumb enough to believe their kids aren’t going to do exactly the same things they did and probably at an earlier age.

Hispanic and non hispanic black teen girls have a get pregnancy rate more than 3 times that of white teen girls in high school. These girls aren’t married so who is going to take care of the babies? Their parents? Not likely. The state? More than likely.

Teen girls with babies just don’t have much chance at life. What kind of job are they going to find? How will they find a job when they aren’t qualified to do anything? How will they find a job that pays enough so they can put their babies in daycare.

Letting teens get pregnant is not only bad for them and for their babues, it’s bad for the rest of us too. In the end we, the people of the USA, end up paying to raise the babies. What the hell is wrong with all of you people?

You know you had unprotected sex in school, you know your kids are going to. Not mentioning sex except for preaching abstinence doesn’t work. Heh, did it work for you? I’m sure you heard it enough from your parents. No sex until you’re married. You should know that it doesn’t work instead of just sticking your head in the sand and hoping.

Teen girls have sex, teen boys have sex. Both need to know about abstinence but just allowing abstinence to be taught is foolish. Teens need to be taught all about sex, the conseqquences, the life they will have and what it’s going to cost them both in terms of money and loss of things they wanted in their life.

You know they are going to have sex so please make it legal for school nurses to give away birth control methods anonymously. Your teens are having sex, whether you like it or want to admit it, so give them the protection they need. That’s simple.

I suspect we also need to pass a law that says if fathers don’t pay child support for their children they must do so much community service every week. That might make the guys want to consider wearing a condom. At least for the second girl they have sex with. I suppose most of them will have to do the community service.

In my opinion that would make up for what the community has to contribute to raise their child.
