Do you have cable TV? Is your cable TV company as arrogant as most of them are. It seems to me that a lot of them have no concept of service. Either customer service or providing top quality TV connections.
It seems they’d rather fight than resolve problems most of the time. Of course this is a long time tactic and is also used by lots of other companies. Seems a stupid course for a business that delivers a service and where there are several other alternatives. One would think they’d at least try to keep the customers they have instead of alienating them when you complain about their dismal service.
Heh, there are companies now that just drop people if they make complaints. Other companies go on the attack and claim you haven’t paid your bill or you owe money from a previous address. Some cable companies even go so far as to limit your internet uploads and downloads, without telling you some of your service is being interfered with.
However you do have several options in dealing with cable companies. Lots of them are given a charter by the city so one option you have is to go to the city council meetings and complain about the poor standards of service. If they are in violation of their charter you could possibly get them to clean up their act or even put them out of business.
Another option is to make blog posts about them so that others won’t be taken in by their over hyped promises. Blog posts are fairly easy and if you have the knowledge you can get your blog posts to come up first in Googles search results, hopefully people will then read your blog post and not signup with a poor cable company.
I’m glad I have the expertise to make any of my blog posts come up in the top three in a google search. If you do something like that make sure you have all of your past bills, I have, and make sure you don’t say something that could be construed as a lie. As long as you can prove what you say you shouldn’t have a problem.
Another option where you can speak freely is your opinion of the cable company in question. OTOH they are seen a lot like used car dealers are so their truthfulness is always open to question. Always save your bills, make notes of any telephone communications and always, always save your emails.
Another option is to put an add in your local paper and hold a meeting with other disgruntled customers. If you do that be sure to send out press releases to the local TV stations and you may get some good coverage. TV stations aren’t particularly fond of cable companies so you will probably get some sympathetic TV coverage and the cable company will come off as arrogant, non responsive and look silly. This one is very easy to do and your only real cost is the newspaper advertisement.
Don’t ya just hate it when you call them with a problem and they say they’ll send someone out to check it out, between 9 and 5, while you are at work. Under that scenario you need to take a full day off of work to wait for them and then they’ll probably tell you it’s not their problem. Your TV is to old or some other silly crap just so they don’t have to try and fix the problem. That’s another tired old tactic. It’s not our fault your reception is bad, it’s your fault for having an old TV.
I’ve heard that one many times. Heh, buy a new TV and complain again. That’s what I did and I’m just waiting for them to tell me my TV is old. Sorry, new flat screen bought two months ago. Of course the one they complained about being old was only 3 months old at the time.
It seems cable companies think they have no competition. That’s just totally wrong. You can use an antenna, Dish Network, Direct TV or even get thousands of TV stations on your computer. I have several friends who get their TV over their computers and just love it. Better yet is lots of local TV stations put their programming on the internet and you can watch it for free.
I don’t know why cable companies are so stupid. It costs tons more to get a new customer than it does to keep the ones you have. Oh well, that’s arrogance for you. There’s just no good explanation for stupidity. Particularly in these poor economic times.
One thing to watch for when you go into a cable company is how many TV’s do they have going and what size are they. If it’s an itty bitty 13 or 15 inch TV they aren’t to proud of their signal or their service. If they have a great signal they’ll probably have a few huge flat screens up to show off their quality. So beware those with small TV’s in their offices. You see, small TV’s don’t show the cable defects near as much as do big TV’s. It’s seems to me to be a pathetic and lame attempt to hide their poor quality. When you see that just turn around and leave because it’s only going to get worse if you’re silly enough to sign up with them.
The solution to companies who do business this way is to broadcast their poor business practices whenever and wherever you can. You might be surprised at what happens when you do this.
Lol, if you’ve ever had a problem with your cable company tell the rest of us about it and how you resolved it.
Oh, one other thing you can do is to send an email to your congressional peope in the house and the senate. They just love to jump on stuff like this. It’s even more helpful if you re personally acquainted with some of them, like I am.
If you fight, you can win, if you don’t fight you deserve the crap you accept. Me, I’m a fighter, I hate to lose and I didn’t just fall off the turnip truck yesterday.
