This morning on the news, I forget which representative it was, was saying he's got some problems with the current bailout bill approved by the senate. He also said the bailout bill they are to vote on today is not a very good bill but he's going to vote for it anyway because something has to be done.

Not to disrespct the house of represetatives but not taking the time to think it through and make it a good bill that does exactly whats needed it's stupidity.

Getting it done correctly is much more important then getting something done quickly. However he also remarked that when he goes back to his district after the vote people are going to ask him why nothing was done.

So, I assume, that in his opinion doing something, even sloppily, is better than waiting and doing it right.

Of course he also has a reelection problem no matter which way he goes. Most people don't want Wall street bailed out as they were purely gamblers. The other people don't want the economy to go to hell anymore than it already has.

I agree that we should just throw them all out and start over.

[...] So congress came up with some balls and refused to pass a bill bailing out the wall street firms that don’t need a bailout . IMO what they need is criminal indictments for doing what they did nd causing the problems to begin with. …[Continue Reading] [...]

I agree 100%! This whole mess is a matter of people gambling they could get more house than they can reasonably afford along with lenders hoping to make a fast buck. Both should be accountable for their bad decisions.

Unfortunately, we no longer have a representative democracy. Our elected officials are in the pockets of Big Business. That's why the Wall Street bailout is even being considered in the first place. Who suffers the consequences of this bailout that tops $1.1 trillion in costs?
